Dash cam
They use lipoly batteries, that's the part that could be damaged. Ohio gets pretty hot and I've seen no problems but if you're going to have year round high temps get one with a capacitor in it instead of a battery.
hay thank yall people.. i thought of something else. on the two mini 0805's, in the case of a wreck - what do i do to save the video? do i need to actually get to the units and press a button on each camera? or is this done remotely?
also on that blackvue 650 - what do you do when you want to save the video? would i press a button on the main unit?
thank you guys VERY much !
those videos are really good quality - much better than i would have thought. do you have the lens pressed against the glass - any probs with glare?
i may decide to get both a blackvue and 0805 - i can put the one i like least in my g/f's car.

I mean, if you're seriously looking for recommendations on dash cams, there's a lot of really good ones out there. Most Ambarella chipsets are very capable. I went with 0805s because I came up from 0801s and the other "Mini" series clones I tested were okay but I was more comfortable with the 0805s.
As far as saving data, the cam is always recording things in 3-5 minute loops on the microsdhc cards, with full HD I get about 5.5 hours of video recorded on my 32gb microsdhc. In the event of a wreck, the cameras have a gravity sensor that will lock files if it detects a jolt past the threshold you set (I tend to keep mine at a 3Gs). No need for you to do anything, really.
The camera samples I recorded and showed to you were about an inch away from the glass. I've never had glare issues. The one that points out the back of the truck doesn't even see the glass unless the interior lights are on.

Plus if you get big enough SD cards then it wouldn't matter if the file locked or not, if you got hit, once you regained consciousness you could just turn it all off and grab the card out, there should be loads of time to do that.

It recycles the sd card when full, size of the card will determine how much or how long of a time frame, with the 16G card mine recycles about once every 3 days. It saves video automatically to the single sd card.
The mount for the BV does not allow the lens to press against the glass. No problem with glare, refer back to the video, that is the quality you get all the time. Day or night.
All operating options are configurable, it flexes with the user preferences.
