Default CVT Transmission

Does anyone have any insight on Ford's CVT transmission? My parents are thinking about buying a used 2007 Ford Freestyle. I was just wondering if anyone knew about the reliabilty or special up keep for the CVT Transmission. Thanks.

Couldnt tell you about Fords but my wife has a Maxima with the CVT and it does drive differently than what we are used to, not worse, not better, just different. They say its more efficient.... idk.

We have one in our Five Hundred 100,300 miles and absolutley love it. It's smooth and gets great mileage for an AWD. But with that said......the maintenance is required every 60,000and runs between $350 and $400. We had the have a valve body (leaked but was still working) replaced on ours that cost $250 and other than that the mechanics say theres nothing else that can be replaced or rebuilt. If anything goes bad the whole thing has to be replaced. I would absolutley by another if ford still offered them though.
