Default crazy noise

Today while driving my truck made a crazy noise, almost like air was rushing in from under the dash on the drivers side, it lasted for about 5min. then it stoped. Truck ran fine no lights or warnings came on. Just had my 75,000 mile check and other than changing the front brake pads all is good with the truck. It freaked me out I have to say! Not sure if I should take it back into the service department or not. Any ideas?

Gina, welcome to the forum. With 75K on the truck I assume it is several years old. Ouestion, did you just turn the heater on, or change the settings when you heard this noise? If so it could have been the little thingy (I don't know the technical name) that redirects the air flow, i.e. to the defrost, or vents. etc. Sometimes as they age, it will move slower than normal making odd sounds as it cahnges positions. After it moves into the correct position it settles down. I don't know if this is what caused your noise, but something to pay attention to next time.

A little reminder, when you need help post all relevant info. like, year, engine type, etc. This could help you get the answer you need. Hope this helps.

@ wanted33 thanks for the welcome and the insight. I drive an 06 supercrew, 5.4L V8. No heat or air on in the past few weeks, we've had temps in the high 70's here in sunny AZ, so I had my window down. I had just picked it up from being detailed but wouldn't think that would be the cause of anything. Drove it around today and it ran great and no crazy noise so I guess I'll take the wait and see aproach and keep my cell phone handy just in case.

Ohhhh, a sunny 70 degrees would be great. Not so much in N.C. But, those 110's ya'll get in summer is tough. Hope the noise was just a one time thing. Good luck.

BTW, AZ is a beautiful state. Been there several times. Phoenix, Sedona, Flagstaff, Seligman, etc. Great ride on Route 66 up north.

I have that same truck with 135000 on it but with a 4.6 and it will do the same thing because the air director thingy ( what wanted33 was talking about. Don't know the name also) is slow and I think broken
