Default CPO Transfer?

does the CPO warranty stay with the vehicle?

im looking at a 2020, the second owner bought it CPO so in Fords system it’s showing as having that extended warranty but not sure if that goes away once I buy the vehicle? Buying from a non-ford dealer.

Have the selling dealer find out. Get it in writing as part of the sales contract.

it’s a ram dealer, they said they think it transfer. Only thing they’ll be able to offer me is a 3rd party warranty as collateral and that’s not worth the paper it’s written on.

asking because there has to be people who have bought previous CPO before

If you don't have a contract, anything else won't be worth the paper it isn't written on.

I don't know for certain, but my guess is it doesn't transfer since it hasn't been inspected by a Ford dealer to re-certify it. Ford doesn't know how the last owner maintained the vehicle. The Ram dealer is trying to sell it to you so make him do the leg work to find out for certain and give it to you in writing. Them saying they think it transfers does you no good if you buy it and it doesn't and you have nothing in writing from the RAM dealer saying it does. I've traded more than one vehicle that probably could have qualified for the Lemon Law over the course of my ownership and that makes me wonder why the last owner got rid of it before the CPO expired.

I`ve never heard of a CPO from a non franchised dealer. I would be very leery of that one.

not sure I’m following.

fords warranty and extended warranty are attached to vins that can be seen on the Ford pass app and show up when a ford dealer pulls the vin.

fords extended warranty’s have to be actually transferred by Ford for the new owner to show on the paperwork.

the ram dealer doesn’t know, they said that if it doesn’t, they can offer a 3rd party warranty to cover it…which is worthless to me, I don’t want a 3rd party warranty.

im simply asking if anyone knows if the CPO warranty is transferable or if it disappears once the vehicle is sold since it’s based on an inspection…I’d assume there’s a few guys here that bought old CPO trucks so just looking for that answer.

The ram dealer didn’t know it was an old CPO vehicle, I found out when I had a buddy run the Vin…it’s a 2020, was sold as CPO at 13k from a ford dealer, it’s now being sold at a Ram dealer with 22k

my original thought is that the CPO won’t transfer.

Ram dealer is offering a 3rd party warranty if it doesn’t transfer (which I don’t want, I’ll just get an extended warranty from flood).

it makes me nervous someone getting rid of a CPO but As you can see in my signature, I’ve sold 3 vehicles what were still under warranty, one of them basically brand new so maybe they are just like me, lol

Yeah, I would check that out with Ford. If this is the case that would mean that every vehicle that Ford CPO`d & sold by another manufacturers dealer network would have to be warrantied by Ford & the co. that sold it to you Ram/Chevy/Toyota would not be responsible for any repairs even though they pocketed the cash from the sale. That doesn't sound like a good business model.

This is from Toyota, but the premise is the same. I think that dealer is full of poopy & I would stay farr away.:
