Default Courtesy Lights

Hi Folks !

I am still trying to finalize my approach to installing courtesy lights under my truck to light up my running boards at night.

I have the lights ordered but here is my challenge that I am trying to solve.

I want to have the lights come on with my remote when I open the doors and shut off when I start the truck. My truck is a 2007 F-150 FX2 Sport Supercrew.

The only place that I can see where I can connect to is the interior Dome lights that has this feature. I have AllData and have determined that if I can locate wiring harness 14358 or terminal block C929(WH) or circuit 53 (BK-LB) pin #2 in the terminal block I will be home free. But I can't seem to fine the wire or terminal block.

Do any of you experts know where I can fine this block or a better way to make this happen. I don't want to take down my head liner etc, etc.

Thanks for the help

Regards

Bill

id just wire it into the fuse that controls your dome light, it should show you which fuse it is in your owner manual.

Connector C238 has circuit #53 running through it. I can e-mail you two PDF files showing the location of the connector and the pinout. It is behind the driver side kick panel.

Wink

On Saturday I installed my courtesy Lights. It took from 4AM to 3PM but I am particular and wanted to do the job rights. So here is the way I did it. If click on my WBUTLER name above this post it will take you my F150 Form Info page and you will see down on the right side some pictures.

So here it is.

I wanted to turn the lights off with my remote and operate with the interior dome lights.

To do this I had to identify the right wire. This wire is Black / Blue 20 gauge located on the drivers side under the step plate in that bundle of wire. I took me a while to fine it but it was worth it to do the job right. See picture.

I used the ground just below the hood release handle.

I made up two wiring harnesses. One for the ground one with a splice to spice into the hot wire Blue/ Black See picture. I soldered all joints and used heat shrink tubing to seal up the joints.

Both wires were threaded through the rubber boot beside the wire bundle that I tapped into. See Picture

The lights were purchased from R and P Carriages.com Trailer Sales they are called (Surface Mount 5 LED Bright White Step Light Thin Design) Small light that are very bright. 12.95 each free shipping. This web site will take you to Ebay. These are great people to deal with.

I put three lights on each side. See pictures

I made brackets See Pictures

Tucked all wires through the holes in the under body and re-sealed them up. Makes a nice clean job corrosion proof. See picture. Click on each picture and you will see some words that I have attached.

So there you have it. Send me a note if you need or want more info

Regards

Bill

PS Thanks for the guidance Jean Marc & Kankles & Pity 7700 who kept me on the right track
