Could This Really Be the Fix?
To say that I'm in love with my '13 FX4 wouldn't be far from wrong, but to say that I hated my GPS would be right on. Like so many of you, my GPS had no idea where it was at any given time, would accept (sometimes) a destination and then loose all track of where it was going, would sometimes not allow me to enter a destination, etc, etc. I called Ford service several times and was told that because I put a lift on my truck and because I put taller tires on my truck....it caused the GPS to malfunction
. I simply can/could not accept that those two things (or one of them) would cause this problem. Then yesterday, after being totally frustrated, I decided to disconnect the negative pole to my battery to see what happens. So I turned my lights on (to assure a drain of all electrical currect), disconnect the terminal, and wait for about five minutes. Then reconnected the terminal and (so far), the GPS works like it should. No 'off roading', no getting completely lost, nothing. So my question to all you experts, how could this be? How could a dummy like me figure out to disconnect the electrical to the GPS (which allowed it to re-set itself), and that might fix it.....and Ford can't tell us anything but a ****-and-bull story about how we shouldn't (in any way) modify our truck? Now, as I step down from my soapbox...I'm a happy camper.

Is basically a computer, sometimes computers mess up an just needa restart which is basically what you did. Sounds like you dealt with an incompetent/lazy person at ford. Glad it's working now.
Here's the bigger problem, everywhere in Texas is expanding so fast so many roads aren't on the GPS haha
