FoMoCo fixed the problem of spark plugs breaking when being removed, correct? And wasn't it only on the 5.4L engines? I shouldn't need the special tool for removing broken plugs should I. Just don't want to get in over my head with no way to get to the parts store. Thanks.

I don't know whether Ford has fixed the plug issue on the 3v 5.4. I know there are some new plugs that will work in place of the ones that break. I have the older 2v 5.4. Maybe someone will chime in and let us know. I know they were a problem on the 04-08 models, just not sure on the 09.

Sorry guys. Didn't get the new boots until Monday night after work. Anyway, the old boots did not have any noticeable cracks or evidence of arcing but I replaced them all anyway, just to be sure. Unfortunately, new boots did not fix the problem. So I went back to the forums in search. I decided to clean the MAF sensor really good...and it appears to have fixed the "problem". Granted I've only run about 60 miles but I can definitely tell a difference on acceleration. Sensor didn't look dirty, but I was using a K&N oiled filter so maybe it had some oil residue on it. Who knows. Anyway, I have also switched back to stock filter. We'll see how it goes over the next week or so.

Thanks to everyone for the opinions, advice, and suggestions.

One of the many reasons why oiled filters aren't the best. Thanks for the update.
