Default Coolant smell

I'm getting a coolant smell from my vents on my 05 with the 4.6 liter engine. No leaks anywhere and the truck is running at the proper temperature. Could it be my heater core or radiator? Truck has 195,000 miles on it

If your radiator has a cap rather than going straight into the coolant overflow that would be the first thing to check.

Coolant smell from vents is a dead giveaway the heater core has failed.

Part not so much but labor will sting, entire dash has to come out and then some. Just about 6hrs labor.

If it is the heater coil you will soon have an oily coating on the inside of your windshield.

Well you can by pass the heater core until you can get it fixed but you will be without heat. JC Whitney .com sells electric heaters that might get you by until you can get it fixed.
