i dunno what to say about a shop that cant find a coolant leak, if nothing else you add some dye and go about it that way. could also be that pipe under the intake.
for me i had this leak from the 2nd old change and explained to the dealership about the leak always being told we cant find the leak or thats normal, so it was picture and video time ( leak was always behind the drivers side tire mid way in. I showed them and here is the list of what they tried. when i asked becasue i did some google research and seen videos on 2016 and i have 2017, could be the Y pipe or the Turbo fitting im not mechanic but i can google.
Coolent flush -no
Coolent cap - no
Water pump - no
Dedgas bottle - no
Turbo fittings/lines etc - TBD they still have the truck (over 2 weeks now) and was told this is a 15hr job @ aprox.3800.00
this imo should have been a TSB for the 2017
From what I’ve read and seen, the y-pipe fitting is only on the 5.0s. If you have a 3.5 you won’t have one. The main failure point for the ecoboost is typically going to be the water pump or turbo coolant line fittings. Like stated above, I’d suggest ordering some dye. That seems to work pretty well to identify the source of your leak. I was ready to order some when I found the leak coming from my water pump.
If you look up “flying wrenches” on YouTube there are a lot of good videos made by a ford tech. He has multiple videos about coolant leaks on the 3.5 and most are filmed while he has the cab separated from the frame. So really easy to see what he’s talking about.
