Console shifter vs. steering column shifter

Console shifter vs. steering column shifter
In the market for an F-150 and I noticed the two shifter options/locations. I would prefer the middle console shifter since I've been used to having that in my other vehicles. I've found they aren't as common as the steering shifter.
I also found having the 40/console/40 setup isn't as common either. I'd prefer that instead of the middle jump seat.
Did any of you get your truck with one shifter and/or middle console setup and later wished you had the other? I'm wondering if I should bite the bullet and get what's available now, or wait to see if something pops up that I feel I might enjoy more..is there really that much difference between the two aside from looks?
What setup do most of the people on this forum have or prefer?
Thanks for your help!

I like the console with the column shifter. Gives you an added bit of storage where the console shifter would normally be. The console shifter is an XLT Sport option or (I think) standard on KR and Platty models.

It's all preference. I settled on my last 2 vehicles and wasn't going to for my F150. List your must haves and don't settle or you'll always question it. That's unless you trade in every couple of years, then it really doesn't matter. I plan to keep my truck for a long time. Center console and center shifter was on my list of must haves. You lose a seat and storage space but again, it's all preference.

when searching for my F150 I had to have the floor shifter. no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I love the floor shifter. Which is why i wanted the F150 and not a silverado, or even a ram (which has the floor shifter in some years/model)

If your looking at an XLT's. Only the Sport (fx4 or non) come with the console shifter. You can order regular XLT's with the console as an added option, but the shifter remains on the steering column.
Lariat and above all come standard with it. So having a middle seat wont be an option if you go that route.
Obvious Pro's and cons. Console shifter looks way nicer. Center seat adds a 6th person option.

The standard XLT with the added center console (without the shifter) is still a nice option.
