Default Compustar Remote Start??

I have a 2011 FX4 waiting for me to have days off, and the salesman I've been dealing with says that compustar remote starts are really good. I'm planning on putting a remote start in anyways, so it would be nice to just integrate it into the payments. Anyone have any experience with Compustar starters?

I currently have an astro start which is a really good remote start with awesome range, was thinking of pulling it out in favor of a compustar remote start/alarm combo which you can control from your smart phone. Have done a little research and from what ive heard they are really good and better than viper, the other remote start brand that you can control from a smart phone, kinda, cause a few months ago when i was looking they were having problems and the viper dealer around here wouldnt even install that model, said it didnt work right and caused nothing but problems, so Id say go compustar and never look back! Never heard anything bad about compustar. My astro start cost 380$ installed and the compustar start/alarm combo with all the sensors available was over twice that so I havent yet pulled the trigger on it, but the good thing is that they are able to add more features to the compustar later.

Compustar is good company...I have had a couple of their alarms over the years. Personally, if you are just looking for remote start...just get a factory one. There are a few write ups on the forum about it. I do not belive that it is that expensive and it is integrated into the key.

With crappy range that wont work from inside buildings, aftermarket units can't be beat for range, mine works from 3/4 mile which is very useful when inside a large building that dampens your signal. Depends on how you plan to use it, but you can never have enough range as you will find out the more you use it. I cheaped out on my first remote start, never again! You will also want to make sure you have a two way page back system that tells you I it actually starts or not, well worth the little extra money it costs, trust me. A brand name good system is well worth the investment, I've been using remote starts for over ten years and will NEVER own a vehicle without a good quality long range two way system.

I have a Compustar and I have no complaints! I only wish that I could control the heating and cooling and the heated seats! Be nice to jump into some nice toasty seats, but so be it! Remote starting is one of the best mods I did, we have them on all the cars now!

My factory units have pretty good range! I start mine all the time from inside the building (office) and it is pretty a pretty good distance. I have never really tried to see how far I can really start from, but I have yet to be denied a start yet! Same with the Compustar!

Ya, I'll never go with anything that's not a 2 way. I just wanted to hear a couple reviews on this particular brand. And now that I've heard good things I'll go ahead and have it installed I'll never own a vehicle without remote start. Here in northern Alberta (Canada) winter lasts 4-6 months. Lol.

x2...the range is good enough for me. Its good for a couple hundred yards. The 2 way thing would be nice...but not at the sacrifice of auto a/c and heat as well as auto heated seats.

Im pretty sure the compustar has an extra wire/accessory function to activate the seats, ask the installer about it.
