Chrome brush guard...
Just be sure that as you're painting to keep stirring your paint paint because the particles do like to settle. This is how i did the flares on my truck as well as the bed.
herculiner is like $100 a gallon for black, around $130 for red, blue or grey, i think they say it takes a gallon and a pint for an 8ft bed so one gallon ought to work for a brushguard (i dont know how big it is, could take less), and the roller it comes with is like a sponge roller, with holes and dimples and such, the paint has like little chunks of rubber or something it and if you just brush it on it will be smooth and wont have the rough bedliner texture, you can use a brush in tight areas but its best to dab it up and down not brush it on, other than that like i said, scuff, stir, and roll on that simple, and well of course you wanna clean it real well after scuffing like you would with any paint, we did the whole cab of my buddies truck in it last summer
