Default Check Fuel Cap

Has anyone encountered this before? I don't know what this means, "CHECK FUEL CAP". I took a look at the fuel cap and nothing seems wrong. Can someone help me with this. Thanks

It is possible that the fuel cap is not closed tightly. Try taking the cap off and then re-tighten it and see if that fixes the light. If not, you may need to replace your fuel cap as the seal might be bad.

I tried removing the cap and re-installing it and the CHECK FUEL CAP is still on. I will replace the cap as per your suggestion and see if it makes a difference. Thank you for the advice...

The light goes on when the cap isn't tightened and must be reset through the scan tool or by disconnecting the battery cables.

you have to take it to the dealer to get the light turned off.

Make sure you turn the cap until it "clicks" 3-4 times atleast. According to the dealer on my moms car you had to click it a minimum of 2 times.

If you have the means, disconnect the battery as Mr. B suggested, just might save you a trip to the dealership.

Also, try going to Autozone, etc. They can scan with the OBD II scanner and the scanner can reset the computer.
