I have a 2005 Ford 150 with a 5.4L. I was driving the truck when the timing went out. It started to make a hell of a racket. It sounded like the rocker arms were clattering. So I shut it down. Then I decided to change the timing. So I tore the motor apart and found both guilds were broke. The passenger side was gone. And the drivers side was there but broke. The tensioners are the reason the timing went out. The gasket blew out on them. And it lost oil pressure. The timing chain slaped the timing cover and chewed it up. But it is still useable. Anyways. I put a new set of chains, guilds, tensioners, phasers, vvt solenoids. And a new oil pump. The timing marks are right. I double and triple checked them before I put it back togather. I started it up and it started right up. And ran great. So I let it run for a while and it did great. So I thought it was done. So I went to drive it and it keeps stalling whenever I come to a stop sign. Or If I slow down and let my foot of the gas. At first I thought it was the cam phazers. But it would throw a code. And the check engine light has not come on. I have put about 40 miles on it and the check engine is not on. And it runs great as long as i keep my foot on the gas when i come to a stop sign. Now when I shut it of and let it cool down for at least 20 min. It started right up and idle great until it warms up. Then I have to keep my foot on the gas when I come to a stop sign. If anyone knows why this truck is doing this please let know. How to fix it.
