I need some help people! I have a cobra 19, and I am trying to figure out what antenna and where to mount it. I was debating between a 3-4 ft firestick w/ magnetic mount on the roof or a 8 ft whip attached to the bumper. Somebody help me out, I am wanting my radio hooked up quick like.

I ran a Firestik 4' for a long time. I would recommend the Firefly if your using a magnetic. Personally the fiberglass set up that has impressed me most (as in the lowest SWR's I've shot with) was a K40 4'ft which is flexible enough on its own that a spring isn't needed if you do a hard mount. If you want just a straight up magnet mount that is great out of the box, a K30. I wouldn't recommend the bumper mount, but I would highly recommend a Firestik stake pocket mount.

I've had a few friends who have had Unidens and they are good radios. We all tend to use Cobras because that's what the radio shops here have the easiest time peaking. I would not recommend Midlands, they are basically poor quality Cobras. My personal favorites so far are Rangers, but I'm not gonna shell out the cash for one.

My Cobra 25 has a basic tune on it. Dead Key's @ 4W and swings to 12W. Without the limiter it would swing to 25W or so but I don't really have a need for that kind of power, especially while the radio is still under warranty.

I would use a stake pocket mount, but I have a tonneua cover. That is why I was wanting a magnet mount or mounting a whip to my bumper. Why the firefly over using a firestik 2? I am not looking to save a dollar on this, but also not looking to spend a ton of money.

RoadPal is the cheap one. I'd go with the Firefly because it flexes better without a spring (something great for magnet mounts). Plus it is lighter so it would be harder to throw it off the truck on a rough road or if you drive under a tree branch or something.
