Default Carrier install

I've got an 04 f150 heritage 4.6L 4x4 4.56 gears with the 8.8 rear end. When I bought it the rear end was twisted so I had to buy an used one which had stock gears. I took the carrier and pinion out of my old rear end. When installing my old carrier with the 4.56 gears do I need to use the new shims in my bearing kit and check for backlash or if I use all my old stuff that was in the twisted rear end the exact same way it came out will I be ok? Thanks
