car washes and F150 antenna
Hello to All,
The guy that sold me my F150 said going thru a cash wash with moveable rolling cleaning devices, said my antenna would not be damaged.
I noted that the antenna is not removable, and the last 2-3 cars I had the antenna was in the back window.
So, will going thru cash washes w the heavy duty spinning and rolling washer damage the antenna?
Thank you,
'tstex

while I never actually took it off, it does unscrew for that exact purpose. I always hand-power-wash my truck, so I wouldn't know if you HAVE to remove it or not for the rollers. But you can. If you want.

3/8" open end wrench and unscrew the mast, the twisted looking wire around it is only there to prevent whistling by altering the air flow around it, it's not connected to anything else.

Thanks Rnl - I'll buy an extra sm crescent wrench and keep it w me...I will only go to reputable carwashes that know what they are doing before and after the wash cycle...appreciate it.

PS - I live in Houston, but have sm 100 acre ranch 65 WNW of Hou. There are also devices you can attach to the side bumper that will make as sm whistling sound so the deer will not dart in front of you and $X,XXX.XX damage. They can hear the sound coming and bail....

I have been through several car washes with mine and pretty much watch the antenna every time thinking somethings going to happen. Now every time I go, I just get out and unscrew it. I keep it hand tight. I can tell it is bent just a little from the few times I didn't take it out.
