Can I cheat for the winter?
Hello everyone,
I have a 2000F150 V6 Ext. Cab.
I'm pretty sure my Dampner door motor is pooched. Can I cheat and force the door on max. heat somehow? Drill a little hole, use a coat hanger or something?
I procrastinated on this one all summer and winter showed up last week like a nagging mother in law! and I don't think its going to leave.
Any advice would be appreciated

Welcome to the site!
Shouldn't be a problem. Suggest it may be easier to unhook the motor from the door, or the vacuum/electric connector from the motor. Have a 50/50 chance that the default is to the floor anyways - may not have to wire anything if lucky.

I don't know anything about this problem, just feel lucky you are not dealing with a late 60's Cadillac air mix system, all vacuum motors and a billion feet of vacuum lines to deal with. If you are in to unhook the motor how much more would it take to deal with the motor at the time. It is a holy law of the universe the level of problems you will have with a vehical are equal to how cold it is. I once, and I mean once, changed out a starting motor in a 73 Plymouth Valiant when it was 20 below zero, with a wind chill of 40 below. I will never ever do that again.
Most shop manuals - Chilton's, Haynes, Motor, etc. - will have the diagrams. It's my experience with Chiltons that they do not have the individual vacuum line layout for the HVAC, but it's pretty easy to figure out once you know where all the dampers are physically located.

On my 98 I took off the black cover under the dash and then cut an access hole.
Put some plastic putty on it and drove it for 3years.

The dampener door is right infront of the console or middle seat.
There is a black cover that which is the floor vent.
Take it off. That is where I cut a hole and fixed it with quick steel plastic repair. You can get it at most hardware stores.
