Cab sizes
Reg cab, kids are grown and wife has a 4 door Tacoma so no need for me to have one and I love the reg cab and still has about 14 inches behind seat for my rifle or shotgun or whatever. I can get in tighter spots than the crews or supers and that's a plus.
Supercab. On the older 10th gen I have. It is the best of both worlds, I get adequate bed space and out of the weather storage in the backseat. And it is big enough to be tolerable for the once a year passenger or two on the back.
I love my SCab. Enough space to move people / things when I need to, but people are less likely to invite themselves in than with the 4 door.
Plus I just don't really like the look of 4 door trucks, however some of the 2015 threads on this forum are pretty nice.

First decide how it will be used and then pick the longest wheelbase you can tolerate. I don't own a car, so it's my only cage. So it has to do everything. It must haul me and occasionally up to 4 grandchildren, haul motorcycles and tow a 6700 lb. camper. I have had regular cab and super cab Chevys and two 145" F150 Supercrews ('01 & '13). The 145" is as long as I want to squeeze in to the parking lot at the grocery store. The '13 Supercrew rear seat area is cavernous. Maybe the grandkids could have squeezed into the Supercab, but the knee room is tight for an adult. The 5.5' bed Supercrew works for me.
When I was looking, at first I thought that a Supercab would be enough. This was in the summer of 2010. I looked and test drove a few. But that's how I quickly learned that I would need a Supercrew. And I like the shorter bed so that's what I ordered. I have three Grand nephews. On occasion I have one or all three. So I needed room to carry them, their clothes, games, etc.. I have property in West Virginia so a 4x4 was a must. I also needed comfort for the 4.5-5 hour trip to and from there. I also had plans to do some sight seeing across the country. I bought a 29' Keystone Bullet Premiere to do that. But, health issues quashed that idea. So I sold it. I then bought a Polaris Ranger HD, and a trailer to tow it. The Supercrew worked out nicely with towing it, carrying gear and a few relatives. So for me a Supercrew was a must have. Plus at the time it was the only way I could order a 6.2....
SuperCab. Wanted 6.5 foot bed, can't fit anything bigger in the garage, unwilling to sacrifice bed length for more cab space that's rarely used. Would have loved cab doors folding flat like in 2015s.
FYI, the back of a SuperCab can fit a 6' tall adult just fine as long as the right front seat is occupied by someone shorter. Putting a 6' tall adult behind a 6' tall adult is cramped. We just did a 3,000 mile roundtrip in ours, and with my wife in the front passenger seat it worked fine. When she drove it did not.
