I live in Ohio, and have never had that happen. You pay for the tittle up front when you purchase the vehicle. Upon paying off the loan the bank has always sent me the original tittle that they held until the loan was paid off.

It really is a matter of principal and not about the $16 but its more of a PITA.
Take it up with the Ohio DMV but it won't get you anywhere, this is 100% NOT a Ford issue like everyone has told you....

Ok finally found out how it works here in Louisiana, my credit union submitted a lien release on the electronic title to the state DMV, the state will issue a clean paper title by mail within 7-10 days, if it gets lost in the mail I can request a free replacement.

When I purchased my truck I do remember paying TTT (tax tag title).

I think some states you aren't necessarily paying for the title, but you are paying the state (who already gets a ****ton of your money anyway) to process the title and remove the lien holder.
