Default Buy a new F150 in Ohio, pay it off and getting the title is extra

A little rant towards Ford / Ford credit~

My 2016 F150 purchase is the 1st vehicle I have financed in many years and decided to use Ford credit for a small amount of the vehicle purchase.
I just paid it off ( less than a year ) and discovered if a want the vehicle title its not included.

More specifically all that I received was a letter with lien release. If I desire a paper title I need to travel to the title office and pay $16 (Ohio).
How the hell is a paper title NOT included with the vehicle when its paid in full?

You buy an cheap item at a store they give you a receipt. Buy something that costs thousands the title is extra?

Pretty crappy customer service and I am blaming Ford / Ford Credit.

The biggest laugh was being told "I don't have to get a paper title". I asked how that works if I decided to sell the vehicle then the response was "well you would have to get one then".
Nice job Ford by cutting one of your costs / tasks and dropping it on the customer.

Make sure you put in your advertising "Title included*".

*For additional fee and you have to go get it.

Screw buying new vehicles.

Don't know if this is specific to Ohio, but years ago I had the same thing happen with a Kawasaki motorcycle. Paid off the small amount that was financed in less than a year and received a letter telling me to go get a title at the courthouse.

I haven't done any research, so I could be wrong here, but that doesn't sound like a Ford issue, it sounds like a state issue. The title fee isn't going to Ford it goes to the state.

Ford even makes us buy the rear wheel-well liner if we want them, which are included in every other vehicle they make, even in my daughters new escape costing one third of what my 2018 Plat set me back.

That's crazy, every vehicle I've ever purchased came with a title, utility trailer, boat trailer, motorcycle etc...

Just paid my truck off yesterday, I'll let ya know what happens with the title, I didn't finance with Ford credit though, I went thru my credit union.

Rant against Ohio, this has nothing to do with Ford. If a dumb salesman told you something and that proved to be incorrect, you could be slightly bothered but at the end of the day you should check on your own anyway. You probably saved like $1500 by financing anyway, no?

That's how it works. The state titles your vehicle, NOT Ford or the finance company. Pony up 16 bucks and have a nice day!

In Mi. you get a title showing who the leinholder is. when the loan is paid off, the bank
or Ford credit etc. mail a "release of lein" statement that you staple to the title, so
when you sell it you have proof it's paid for.

IL it used to be the title is sent to the lien holder, and when paid off, the title is sent to you. At least it was that way back in 2007.

No.
The borrowed amount was 12 grand and paid off in 10 months.
