Building a Garage big Enough...ARGHH!!
Hi all,
Looking for opinions, after having looked at several homes with and without garages, my wife and I have decided to build rather than purchase. After having parked my F150 in a friend's garage, I noticed that standard overall garage dimensions, as well as overhead doors, are on the small side. We are in the process of designing our future home with an attached 2-door garage, any opinions on overall dimensions and door sizes to comfortably fit my truck and the wife's Ford Escape? Thanks in advance!

Build a three car with a high door. That way you have plenty of space, I have a garage that I use that is a 2 car with one door and my truck barely squeezes in. But there is a bunch of crap In the garage

My garage door is 7' x18' and my F150 and my wifes blazer fit just fine. If I was to build new I would got to an 8' tall door opening, my stock height truck is just barely shorter then my door, width wise its fine. I think standard garage depth is 24', which is what mine is which leaves me just enough room to walk behind and in front of my truck when its in with the garage door shut.

I'm thinking 10W x 8H doors, and 26' deep, should have plenty of room without having to fold the mirrors...the tractor and other toys will stay in the shed.

If you have the room build big! I built a 22X32 because that is all the room I had to the property line. There is no crap in mine and I still park the truck outside. I sold one car so the wife could park inside all year. I need another one on the other side of the house so I can get my Buick back.

If I was building today there is no way it would be anything less than a three car garage, first and foremost.
Size would be secondary.
8 foot doors and 26 deep. Standard width. If you start playing with odd widths the doors get expensive

I built a 26x30 with a 7x18 door and I can fit my 12 scab 8'bed and the wifes Grand Caravan, 3 atv's, motorcycle lift ( I keep the motorcycle on the lift to save space), tool box, snowblower ect. If I was to do it again I would go higher ceiling and door height.

My cousin (who worked for BMW as a tech) built a 4 car garage 8ft doors individual doors, 2 for his and hers DD, 1 for projects, and 1 for junk. He loves it, can't imagine anything less for a truck guy. (if you're building)
