Some of the worst, most costly damage to my vehicles has been done by "mechanics". madeSICC encountered a problem and did the right thing, he sought advice from his peers, then made a decision on how to proceed. I really don't see the harshness being beneficial.

I'll be the first to admit i don't know much about brakes, done plenty pads and rotors but have never messed with the lines or calipers. Seeing as i don't rely on this truck to get me or my family around i do tend to use it was a guinea pig to try stuff out. Read a ton and watched videos and how tos and figured i would be able to do it. Didn't succeed but it's not the first time I've broken something on it and had to pay a mechanic to fix my mistake, i always get it done correct by a professional if i don't feel it done right. I never put anything or anyone in danger with a truck sitting in a parking spot.

Got a new hub in today and will be getting the caliper tomorrow, hopefully have time to get the truck to the shop before the end if the week.

I'll be changing my fuel filter and also going to try and drop the transmission pan and change the filter this weekend too, never done this either.......but I've been reading

I never bother trying to remove a broken bleeder. My calipers are only $12 though.
