Default brake upgrade?

just went and priced a set of 22's for my 2010 f150 STX. just wondering if i should upgrade to a larger diameter rotor or if the ones i have will suffice? i feel like they will be okay considering all i have to do is think about tapping the brakes and the thing stops. anyone with upgraded rims or advice is welcome to comment. thanks

adding larger brake rotors will not make your brakes stop the truck better, well enough to notice a difference anyway. going with a good set of aftermarket brake pads will make the biggest difference in braking performance. and you should look at getting ceramic pads to keep the dust off those chrome rims.

the only benefit of going with the larger rotors, other then the aesthetics, is being able to dissipate heat better then you could from a smaller rotor. you will not notice this difference in performance in daily driving, but you might see the difference if you were towing a lot downhill or running the truck on a track.

thanks man, and the rims are black, with just a touch of chrome on the lip. so im thinking they wont be hard to keep dust free but the ceramic pads are a great idea. ive only got the 4.6 v8 so the most ill be hauling is a trailer with my stuff when i move.. and ive got a bed and dresser, lol. dont think ill be racing anyone either, well not in the truck

the ceramic pads are a good pad if your concerned about getting good braking performance and would like less brake dust.

but if you have darker colored rims you could always look at something like the Hawk LTS, which gives better performance over the ceramic pad but puts out more brake dust and is cheaper.

send me a private message if you want a price quote on either of the pads.
