Brake Issue
I have a 04 F150 SuperCab, 4.6, and about a month ago I was driving and all of a sudden the ABS light lit up on the dash, I noticed no problems with the brakes they stopped fine and all, so I went home and went out again later in it to run a errand and the light was off, and the truck still stopped fine, and it never lit back up so I kind of shrugged it off.. now the other day the light came back on, and after that I noticed that when I applied the brakes during a left handed turn that the brakes kind of I'm not for sure how to describe it, grab and let go real quick 2 or 3 times and this was only during a left turn.. so I took it to Auto Zone for a quick diagnostic, and he said that the error code read a Right Front Speed Sensor Error, so I took to my Mechanic who verified the code, and said that it would cost between $300- $400 to fix because he would have to replace the whole hub.. because it was all built in together and they don't sell the speed sensor seperate. Well unfortuantly with the holidays and all I don't have the extra right at the moment to get it fixed, Now when I stop the pedal almost kind of lock ups when you push on the brakes to stop you have to push hard on them now.. now is the Speed Sensor the cause of this new problem or could it be something else, and does the price sound about right to replace the speed sensor in the wheel??
price seems high when compared to the cost of the part http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/se...t=speed+sensor
By the look of the parts it seems like it would be a pretty easy DIY. Search the forum someone my have posted a DIY write up.
I would think that your new problem could be related to the speed sensor. If the computer is getting faulty readings on the wheel speed I could see you getting ABS issues.

Thanks for the replies, I bought a Haynes manual to the truck, and it looked pretty simple, just right behind the disk brakes, may have to give it a try... one thing I have noticed is that apparetly with the 2004 Model there is 2 diffrent versions of this truck, one is the new version with the new body style 05-08, and the older style 00-03, and they used parts from both styles in that year... I've had to take back certain parts because they gave me the wrong part, sometimes they have to look up a 2005 part or a 2003 part.. Go Figure...
Well my Abs light went off for a while, and didn't come back on till last week, so I took it to a brake and alignment shop, he checked the hub and bearings, and said they were fine, didn't see a problem there, read the code and it still said Right Front wheel speed sensor, so he replaced it, and it was still doing the same thing, thought he might have had a bad sensor and got another one and still the same thing. about the only thing he said there was left to do was to take it to a dealer and have them diagnose the problem, hes thinking its the ABS Control Module going out which is a dealer repair, since they would have to flash it.. anybody know how the dealer would cost to replace and repair it? or if anybody has any other ideas I'm open to suggestion??
