Bought used truck need some advice please!
Just put 75$ in it to fill it from 1/4 tank. Gas is 4.00 a gal here so it sounds like its a 25 gal tank???
2000 f150 extended 2wd with a 4.6 eng. automatic trans w/od.
Heres the deal- Just filled up yesterday morning and have driven 195 miles and now its back under 1/4 tank.
I have had it for a few days and know nothing about it except the stock intake has been butchered and an aftermarket big cone filter installed and the flow tube has been re routed aiming downwards right next to the fan shroud. it has 5 jegs injectors and 3 oem injectors. its keeps throwing a code p0420 on the cat had the cat tested its fine was told the problem is an o2 sensor. and was told I have flow master exhaust and a relatively new and properly working exhaust system.
is this the mileage I can expect or any suggestions on what I should look into?

I had a 98 2WD scab with 4.6L
That mileage sounds about right. I remember getting absolutely HORRIBLE gas mileage.
My 2004 2WD SCREW 4.6L is a huge improvement. I can fill up on friday and by the next friday I'm only down to anywhere from a half tank to 3/4 tank of gas depending on how much I drive. And I drive alot!
I have a few mods that might add a couple MPG but nothing special. Very impressed with the 04-08 F150's. Can't wait to get me a 12th generation.

Some gas stations will cut off the pump after hitting the $75 mark. Ask the gas station attendant if there is a limit.
As for your trucks after market intake and exhaust. I hope it passed SMOG when you bought it. Also I would replace all of the injectors to oem since most aftermarket are not worth installing. Also replace O2 sensor and check all fluids. Besides that you bought a truck and not a commuter car so MPG is a low point. Depending on how many miles you have on the truck perhaps run some engine cleaner at your next oil change. Lastly verify your floater in the gas tank is not sticking or bad sending unit. Good luck!

I have a 2000 scab flareside 5.4l 2wd 25 gal tank.. so far I've been gettin 280 miles before the light comes on.. which translates to about 14 mpg.. I just done the gots mod and replaced my air filter this week so I'm still running a tank to see how or if mpg where affected..

Thanks for the input everyone:
Today The fuel light came on and the trip was at 220 and then it was 225 when I put fuel in it. One of the first problems I had on the 65 mile trip home from the dealer was check engine light and overdrive popping in and out repeatedly and bogging down, dissengageing it and drove fine. Dealer had it for 5 days after that and I suspect they just cleared the codes and serviced the tranny. OD still irratic but smoother and not hitting at hard so hard to notice. Went by a mechanics shop today (reputeable place) told the guy Im broke up front and just needed some suggestions and he was happy to spend 10 mins w/me BSing over the motor. This truck should be getting 15 mpg city driving and im getting roughly 8-9 mpg and the MAF mass air flow sensor could be the culprit of everything(input??) The air fuel mix could be way off on the rich side buring more fuel throwing the p0420 code from the o2's(doing thier job) in front of the cats because of the bad mixture, as well as sending bad information to the transmission compturized shift solenoid which is causing the OD to be eratic.
This is all in theory not confirmed but sounds good to me
Dealer wants 511.00 for the air box and a hundred here and 100.00 there for the rest of the induction tube and sensor housing little under a grand for it all. tried all wrecking yards in a 100 mile radius and nothing for me. May try buying a new in box properly working performance intake and tube (200.00 bucks) ideas???
Dealers gonna playwith it tomorrow we will see what they do to it. 2nd time there and it was sold as is but my wife works for one of thier biggest lenders so hes working with us a little bit.
Ps. the jegs injectors I was looking at were actualy coil packs Now I know.
Sorry guys bow tie convert here.

I can easily see the MAF sensor making your truck run rich. But a good mechanic should be able to tell and fix it (usually replacing it).
As for new air box, see if you can find one on ebay or perhaps your local pick-n-pull. I am not sure how clear the previous owner was on the condition of the truck but hopefully you will have it cleared up soon and without much cost.
