So I'm looking to either black out my headlights and tail lights with a spray or possibly just purchasing a whole new set? What are yalls thoughts on this? Has anyone used VHT or rustoleum lens tint and how'd you like the turnout? Should I just get a black set and if so where?

 

Think you will get a lot of answers on here that using the tint is unsafe. with that said, you can get the OEM raptor/hd tails on ebay for like 120 shipped for the set. I think the OEM halogen headlights with the black surround are like 220 or something in that neighborhood.

 

When you paint the lens of your head or tail lights they do not work as well...up to you !! I went with option 2.

 

I would not paint of tint the headlight. I have seen a lot of people that and it never really looks good. You should get the black housing.
But the tail light it depends on how dark you are trying to go. A couple of coats (not to heavy) you should be fine. I have always done that. 3 coats real light and a clear coat and it just tints a little. If you want a full black out then the housing to. Not sure how cops are in the state or town you live. Well that's my 2 cents.

 

I used HD/Raptor heads and tails, and painted the inside edges of the tails black. $350 +/- from Tasca on ebay. They're genuine Ford OEM, so that likely drove the price up a bit, but worth it, IMO.
I'll try to post some photos later today.
I've spray tinted tails before, turned out "just" alright. Also installed the highest powered LEDs I could find at the time, so visibility was maintained.
I vote for what I did with replacing the whole thing.
