I've had black vehicles in the past and it's a love and hate relationship. White and silver for me now. I've had good luck with Meguiars Scratch X for small scratches.

Don’t wax. Use a good sealant as it’ll last a lot longer. Wax on a black truck will be browken down by the sun very fast.

For something that’ll give a great shine and last a lot longer than a regular canuba wax, collinite 845 has always been great, however, my truck is white, the complete opposite.

You should take a clay bar to it before you wax.

in our detailing business we use Meguiars' Ultimate liquid wax. Its been a great wax, easy to apply and remove, use it on windows and won't stain black trim. Lasts pretty long too. Works great on black cars

Collin it’s has 2 products, their use is based on what color you have. Check their website before buying.

Reading for sure, but also take a look at some of the videos from either Chemical Guys or Girots. Not saying to use their specific products, there are a lot of options out there, but they have some good videos on the steps to take for the best finish. Depending on the condition of the paint, you may want to go through a bunch of steps (wash, clay, polish, etc.) before you even get to waxing. If you already have fine scratches, I would say at a minimum clay and polish before wax, but it all depends on the amount of work you want to put into this. If you are just looking to clean and wax, then a good liquid wax like mentioned would make it look better than nothing but you probably are not going to get rid of any fine scratches.

If you want to remove the swirls/scratches you must be willing to go the extra mile. If you just want to have it look okay a claying and wax will be just fine.

If you want perfection you need to Clay the truck followed with a "fine" compound polish. After that a good sealant or wax.

Most all of the top brands are good.

I used this on my tuxedo black 2013 and loved it. Especially if you are fairly new at waxing it is great as mentioned, easy to apply/remove/won't stain/can be used in direct sunlight/etc.

Might not be the best wax for black but it is a pretty sweet product. Also note it is called a 'wax' but it is a synthetic sealant.
