Best engine for me
I am an ex F150 person and looking to go back ( long story) Anyway times have changed, the motocross days are over, no more heavy trailers.
I am coming back from a car but need a truck or you could say a Home Depot truck/Daily driver. No 4x4
Best engine ?

I'd go with the v8 or ecoboost offering for the year you're looking at. I love my ecoboost, but I understand the want for a v8 for exhaust sound reasons and sake of simplicity. The Ecoboost gives you a little more power, but saves you no fuel economy and sounds like a v6 with loud exhaust...and not a good v6 sound IMO. You'll find people more than happy with their v6 exhaust, but you won't find me changing mine...it just doesn't sound good to me.
Expect very strong opinions on both sides. Each engine has its pros and cons, so the decision is really yours to make. Both are 'right.'

When I was shopping, I talked to a lot of people who owned each. 100% of EB owners loved it and 100% of v8 owners loved it. Both had solid arguments for their choice. Neither really had a case against the other. By the time I purchased my truck (v8), I was convinced either would be a great choice and neither would be a deal breaker. Like all other v8 owners, I am delighted.

2.7 ecoboost.
Plenty of power. Gets the best gas mileage.

What years are you looking at?
Honestly, if you aren't pulling a heavy trailer every weekend pretty much ANY engine would be fine, even the naturally aspirated V6's. Any of the new engines seem to be rock solid.

Very simple answer. Test drive one you like, regardless of what the power plant is. If you like how it drives, buy it. (EB or Coyote, not the 3.5 NA)

I looked at the 3.5 and the 2.7..never even considered the 5.0. Aside from the exhaust note of the v8 the EBs do everything better.
The 3.5 is fast and honestly if I could afford it I would have gotten the 3.5, however money talks and the difference in payment was quite a bit for a 2.7. I got everything I wanted though...XLT 4x4 302a. The 2.7 has plenty of power too and I'm averaging around 18- 19MPG in the short time Ive had it. I couldn't be happier with it.
So you really can't go wrong either way.

I had a 2013 RCSB 5.0 STX with 3.55 rear, absolutely loved that truck. I now have a 2014 Tremor (RCSB 3.5 eco with 4.10 e-locker rear).
Both had 5* tunes (ran 87 perf/tow on the 50, running 89 perf/tow on the tremor), and honestly, the 5.0 in that configuration was phenomenal. The Tremor is a bit, meh. I never had either on a dyno, and I never ran either at the track, but in feel, the 5.0 was faster. If I had it to do again, I'd go back to a RCSB 5.0. Unfortunately, I JUST bought the tremor 3 months ago, so I cant take that kind of hit. If I was still in the 5.0 and test drove the tremor, there is no way I would have traded. I was coming from a 2015 mustang GT and just looking to get another truck and came across the tremor.

I've heard that the ecoboost is not that exciting in the Tremor before. I wonder if Ford de-tuned it to keep from spinning the tires, or if benefits of the 3.5eb just don't really start to shine until you get into the heavier trucks, where the 5.0 might start to struggle more.
