Default Beginner questions

Hey guys I'm new to the forum. I have a Bronco ii right now but want to get something more reliable for transportation, and I my lifestyle demands a truck. I've been in many rangers, and because of my size, I want a fullsize truck, the ranger is plain uncomfortable. My question is what types of 4x4 hub locking systems do the F150's use, throughout various generations. If the auto lockers fail, are there replacements? Im pretty sure it isn't a problem up until '96 or '97. The truck I end up buying will most likley be '93-200ish, it just depends what I can find in good shape close by. Other than that, is there anything special to look out for? I appreciate your time and help.
