Bed Removal For Rust Repair
Hi guys,
I am the proud new owner of a 2001 F-150 Super cab 4x4 longbed. The truck is from North East Ohio (Home) so it has some rust. The worst of it is in the bed where one spot has rusten through. I want to put a spray in liner in but want to fix the rust first. I am thinking of pulling the bed to do some repair to the underside of the bed.
I am thinking of sanding it all down. Cutting out rusted areas. Tacking in new sheet metal and coating it with rust converter then covering it again with the DIY bed liner (all this would be the underside).
Just wanted to see what you guys think of the idea. Am i getting in over my head?

^^^ As he said, plus, while you have the bed off you will have easy access to the frame which you should take the time to paint some herculiner on. You may also want to pull back your carpet and look at the floorboards, nothing is worse than missing a section of rust on a vehicle.
