So my new truck had a bed liner when i got it. I don't know if it's linex, or some other brand. Overall it's in really great shape. But the previous owner sprayed some brackets with some sort of paint that does not match the rest of the color in the bed. can i recoat the bed liner? get one of the roll on products and do a new coat? Will it stick?? any help would be great..

Your best bet is to go to a LINE-X dealer and get "ReNew" which can be used on ANY brand of bedliner. The process includes a new textured surface with LINE-X and then LINE-X Xtra which will prevent it from fading. The bedliner will look brand-spanking new and will stay that way. Prices vary, but you're looking at around $250.

 

if your worried about it sticking, there is some adhesive stuff you can buy at a local auto part store, not sure what its called tho. i have used it on my tool box and 4 wheeler with good results, in the process of doing my bed but its a big area to prep so ill post in a week or so about that

 

The guy i got the truck form said it would be ok to just reapply new bed liner over the old stuff.. ? is he right ?

 

If it's a professional bedliner, you cannot apply a new layer over the old layer without a primer. It may seem like it has adhesion at first, but will delaminate.

Here's an exact example. No primer was used between layers.

 

Why not just paint the brackets the same color as the liner...

 

Matching that color would be next to impossible.
