Default Bed Extender on Long Trips

In December, I'll be making a 10 hour drive to visit family. I'll probably fill the bed of the truck slap full, especially on the way back as I expect the little tyke to be buried in presents. So long as the bed extender is installed properly and I clip it down properly, are there any concerns about using it?

I've had a bed extender on my Tacoma for nearly 10 years. The bed on my F-150 is big enough that I decided, at least for now, to not buy one for it.

I've never had a single issue. You just have to pack carefully. Nothing small enough to fall through the bars packed right next to the extender. A cargo net or other tie down straps would probably be a good idea too.

Long traveling. I'll put a tarp over everything and then use one of those bungee cargo nets on top of that. Boom

Thanks for the information. I also went out there and yanked on the damn thing for a couple of minutes and the world didn't end so it should be OK. Just don't want to end up on the side of the road picking up suitcases and christmas presents.

Just make sure all 3 locks are secured and you are golden.
