Default Bed cover freezing

I have a Bakflip folding bed cover on my truck and a couple of cold mornings(teens) the cover was frozen to the tail gate and I could not get the tailgate down. The first morning I did not mess with it because we had company and I did not need in the bed that bad.

I have rigged a handle to allow me to open the cover without opening the tailgate. With some banging on the cover I broke the ice loose and the tailgate opened.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there some chemical or antifreeze product that might be put on either the inside of the cover where it contacts the tailgate or the tailgate itself?

Thanks, Pete

It will happen to any cover that gets wet under there, just like a door seal. Try some WD-40 or silicone spray. Just make sure you try a little on a small area, first to make sure it will not eat the weatherseal.

I guess applying some RV/Boat antifreeze to it after it gets wet will work too. My soft tonneaus never had that problem unless I washed it in cold weather.

Armor-all or 303 will get the job done nicely.

Are you talking about the cleaner or protectant?

Have same problem with my Estang freezing up. Applied a heavy layer of wax until I figured out what would be best...and that's solved my problem.
