Default Battery problems?

My trucks been running pretty good lately until a few mornings ago it wouldn't start the battery was dead. I hooked up jumped cables to start it up and it charged but I had to wiggle them around on the terminals to get it to charge, the alternators still working and the battery holds charges for weeks sometimes it just decides to drain sometimesit doesn't I'm not leavingand sort of lights or electronics plugged in so..... Any thoughts thanks .

Its best to use a Milliampere meter connected in series with the negative battery cable to test for a battery draw or drain. As most people don't have one, connect a common 12 volt test lite in series with the negative cable. The lite may be on very dim, thats OK, but if its on bright, you have a drain on the battery above the normal keep alive memory of the modules. Start pulling fuses to locate the drain, if there is no drain, clean the terminals inside and out and have battery tested. If tests OK, then have the alternator tested for charging. Should be charging 13.8-14.2 volts.
