Ball mounts
Which of the three is the best from rusting and sticking in receiver ? I have always used # 3.
(1) Chrome w/ Chrome ball
(2) Nickle w/ Nickle ball
(3) Powder coated w/Chrome ball
Thanks.
Mike

Do you guys keep your hitch in all the time? I finally gave up doing that and just put it in when I need to tow something. That way it's always in good shape. Otherwise it seems like the hitches always get rusted to the receiver. I guess you could keep them greased up to keep that from happening.
I pull mine out of Jeep and truck when not in use as my usage is only occational. This way I don't bang my leg on it. Nor does it get stolen (yes, there are locking pins available). The one in the motorhome never comes out - has been there for years.
You can get cases for your drawbar and ball - Northern Tool usually has under $20 for a case, drawbar, and ball combo.

My drawbar does not stay in as I only really need it during hunting season. Even then, most of the time I am hunting, I have my Hitch Haul in there. I use the hitch haul for carrying deer/corn/whatever during the hunting season.
Another thing to consider. A couple years ago, a young lady rear ended my truck in the rain. The rear bumper was bent, barely. Her insurance company sent an adjuster out to look at my truck. I had the drawbar in the hitch because I was just using my utility trailer earlier that day. The adjuster asked if it was in the hitch during the collision. He says he has seen bent frames, on trucks, from being hit with the drawbar in the hitch.
