Default Bak Roll-X Problems / Concerns

Just as warning to anyone else using their truck like a truck. If you are moving dirt or sand, try to keep it off your Roll-X side rails. I got some on my passenger side rail and it is binding up. The ammount was minimal as well, maybe a little overflow fell on it from only two shovel fulls, not like I had an excavator dump into the bed. Was stiff enough one time it actually bent the tab at the tailgate that the cover uses to close the "locking rails" on the side.
I tried spraying it out with a garden hose but that did not seem to help, still pretty stiff operation.

Sent an email last week asking Bak if they have ever testing these for contamination like this and how they recomend cleaning it, but so far have not recieved any replies.

I will have to try compressed air next I guess.

I would try a shop vac first, the air may just pack it in.

I was going to order a Roll-X, this could be a show stopper. My truck is being built today, will be here next Monday, hope to have a tonneau here ready to install.

Please contact Oscar Alvarez at Bak at 818-365-9000. We will replace your rails for you right away. There could be more at play here than just sand.
Either way, I'd be more than happy to help you out.

Best,

Julian Maimin - CEO

Not sure if you got the previous post, but I have authorized a replacement for you. Just call Oscar at BAK at 818-365-9000 and he'll ship you replacement rails immediately. The product has been well tested, so I believe that something must have gotten stuck that caused the issue. Bottom line is that we'll sort you out and get you "rolling" without delay.

Best,

Julian Maimin

That is great customer service. I bought a Bak flip for my 2012 FX4. This kind of service sure makes me feel good about my selection.

I return from Kosovo next month and pick up my 2012 F150 Harley model. I was looking at the BAKFlip VP or the Roll-X. Don't know which model I will get but with this kind of customer service it will for sure be a BAKFlip.
