Default Bad weather

I have a f150 2.7 ecoboost. I live in Wisconsin the weather in the next couple days is going to get down to 1 degrees . My truck has a plug for an engine heater should i be pluging it in? I do park it outside all winter.

Probably wouldn't hurt it.

1 Fahrenheit = -17C . That's a light sweater for us.......No need really but it won't hurt.
My truck is parked in the garage so rarely gets plugged in. But if parked outside all day, we don't bother until -25. If it is plugged in, it does warm the engine a lot and notice hot air blowing within a couple minutes. Also put it on a timer, there's no need to plug in for 12 hours, 3-4 hours is plenty.

Right now we've had a few days of cooler weather,, so a little nipply this morning.

did you just move to WI?

as long as your coolant is of proper mix it’ll be fine.

Offering a way-over there aside, depending on where you're at and what one's actual electric costs are, figure about 8-10 cents per hour.

Doesn't sound like much, until looking at something like, say, 8 hours per night across a 30-day billing cycle bringing a potential extra $20-$25 bump in the electric bill.

Won't argue the value if conditions are that cold, just hates surprises especially when they come out of the wallet.

Smiling at the diversity of this group, with the above post and pic of temperature. Here, calling for highs the next few days to be less than +20 degF, and people are absolutely wigging out about it. Didn't receive favorable feedbacks either, when I suggested they just need to calm down and take a couple growacets. :-)

Yeah, we are supposed to get down to +26F on tuesday & the stores are almost out of bread/milk & eggs. I guess everyone is planning on staying home & making omelets.

Near or below zero, the block heater will make it easier to start, and over time will be easier on your battery and starter.

You know what they say! Don’t buy an F-150 if you can’t afford to plug it in!!

Yeah, I was used to spoiling my 2017 911 and my 1973 914, especially since I don't drive them much (and almost never in winter). But I was not ready to treat my F-150 the same way.

I still haven't plugged mine in.. I guess I should look for the block heater tomorrow, lol.

I ended up boosting her once this winter due to -42c and the windchill at -59.
