Default Back up camera

I have a 2011 f 150 s crew ecoboost and was wondering if anyone knew if the back up camera is pre wired in. If I bought the tail gate and mirror would it be plug and play. Thanks for any help.

Which model? My 2011 XLT was not so I ran new wiring. There are some excellent posts in the forums on specifics but it's not that hard with some cares and works perfect.

Yes mine is a xlt as well. Xtr. The wiring you mocked up was that with the rear camera in a tail gate or just the license plate mounted ones. Thanks again.

I bought the camera and mirror from e-bay but I cannot remember their name at the moment, but several here bought from them. I ran a shielded cable from the back up through the cab to the mirror and pulled the female pins from a connector I bought from Allied to add to the factory plug. Then I spliced in the cable I ran into the connector on the camera assembly as I did not want to cut the connector off the camera if I didn't have to. I used my 7 pin towing for power (again splicing it inline) and it worked great. Although it reads as though being a real problem, it actually is not as difficult as I was expecting but again, if you search the 2009+ forum, there is a very long thread of how most of us did it and where we sourced the parts. The mirror and camera were the most expensive obviously, but otherwise it's maybe 30 bucks in materials and a true factory look. Some folks bought the correct cable assemblies to make it plug and play but I believe the majority just ran our own cables and loom with pretty much the same results. I will try and find the thread I used when I did mine and post it. Hope that helps.
