when I bought mine I drove 4 hrs to get it ... so we agreed on the price before I rented a car and drove up

....get there, truck checked out, paperwork .... "oh wait, that price includes 2 rebates you aren't eligible for - price will be $1000 higher". So obviously there was a level of displeasure with this revelation given that I had the email wherein they agreed on a price and I specifically asked if there would be any surprises etc. Salesman goes to manager, comes back and says they'll pay for one rebate if i'll pay the other ... I agree only b/c it's not worth going through this again (and it was still a good price)

now the good part - in the online photos/ad, there was no mention of the line-x bedliner. I noticed it when I got there to inspect the truck prior to the paperwork, but didn't mention it (hadn't ever had one before, so didn't care one way or the other). It wasn't included in the price for the truck, no mention as we settled the deal

About 20 minutes after I drove off the lot, cellphone rings - it's the salesman - "Uh, did that truck have a spray in bedliner?"
me: "yeah I think so"
salesman - "uh, well, that's a $500 dealer add-on"
me: "okay..."
*awkward pause*
salesman - "well, I guess you got that $500 after all"
Me: "yeah, looks that way"

Default Al Packer Ford

I know of the Covert Ford dealership that you're talking about, as we live in central Texas. I've never dealt with them personally.

I purchased a 2014 Escape from Al Packer Ford in West Palm Beach, FL. in August of 2013. We were staying in FL to take care of my Mom before she passed, and was having problems with our '06 Chevy Malibu Maxx. My wife's cousins' husband works for the dealer, and looking online, we decided on a few vehicles to look at. We took the trip over, and after several test drives we picked our new Escape. Got Employee pricing on our SUV, and got a good deal on financing and the extended warranty. Totally happy with the experience of buying the truck there.

It's very close to I-95 and shouldn't take but a few hours drive...

Thanks for the info. Do yourself a favor and skip covert ford. I'm sure there are plenty of other dealerships in texas. Sorry to hear about your mom.
