Yeah Vista came installed on my computer. I really liked XP, but I'm giving Vista a chance.

A Vista SP1 beta version was released earlier this year (late Aug/early Sept) and the final SP1 should be released early next year. I don't install any beta products on my computer though because I'm not signing up to be a software companies testing dummy.

the problem with the operating system is that vista really does blow, but the reason why is somewhat sneaky. All desktop PC's being sold today run vista and most arent properly equipped to handle it because of microsoft. After the issues of vista arose, the big dawg PC makers wanted to switch back to XP (sony, dell, hp, etc) because it ran better and required less hardware upgrading, so the PC's could be sold on a mass market scale at a competitive price(yea capitalism!), but Microsoft threatened to pull their software licenses if they didnt put Vista on their PC's. After all, if the 'puter doesnt have an OS, its pretty much useless, because the average consumer isnt going to buy a PC at Best Buy, Circuit City, etc and then drop 200-400 on on OS and associated software. So, microsoft strong-armed their monopoly status into having Vista installed on all desktop PC's even if they can barely run it and having at a minimum of 1.5g of RAM is quite necessary, not to mention having the graphics capability. boo for microsft, but the new SP should indeed solve a bit of the problems.

The good thing is is my computer is fully equiped to handle Vista, but I still encounter little quirks from time to time. I truly am not that disappointed in Vista as I use it more and get used to it, but I do have a higher end machine, probably would be different if I had a less powerful computer.
