Auxiliary LED reverse light pods
I installed some LED auxiliary light pods on my rear bumper and wired them into my reverse lights, but sometimes they work for a second and shut off both the pods and stock lights. Why is this happening?
Hello! More than likely the Aftermarket LEDs are pulling too much power from the small factory wiring, I would recommend wiring in a relay for them(Either 1 for both lights, or for brighter function 1 per light) You can use the positive wire from the factory reverse light for the trigger wire, But you will need to run a wire up to the engine bay for power. In the image below, Pin 86 would be attached to the positive wire on the factory reverse light. This should allow both the LED and the factory light to turn on and off whenever the truck is in reverse.

Additionally, You can run an additional wire from Pin 86 into either the bed, or the cab and wire in a toggle switch so you can use the lights when the vehicle is not in reverse, Say at a tailgate party or if your working on something behind the vehicle.
