Auto Shut-Off Headlights

I can't believe I read this whole thread!
How is the smart auto lamp feature dumber than killing power to headlights when ignition is killed?
The auto function is great and works well. It is even smart enough that when you turn wipers on that it activates the lights.
Your solution is a but tacky, how about some electrical tape and trimmed cleanly with a razor blade?

My solution is functional yet reversible in one second or less. Many would think it is just an odd looking factory sensor of some sort. I could probably pass it off as a GPS antenna. I will, however, look for a smaller measuring spoon.
Paint is not so easily reversed should I want to and tape would turn into a gooey mess in the sun and heat that a dash experiences.
I don’t understand why it’s so hard for most of you to grasp this concept.
I used to think all the drivers I see without head lights in the rain were just idiots but maybe they are simply naïve enough to think their Auto Lamps are adequate when in reality they are not.

Over the last three weeks it's been raining/sprinkling/drizzling more than not when I've left for work just past sunrise. In the Auto position the head lights DID NOT COME ON. In the on position it takes 10 to 15 minutes for them to shut off after ignition is turned off. Now in the Auto position the head lights are always on and shut off with the timer after ignition off. This is exactly what I want and Ford should have accommodated this but didn't. My solution is functional yet reversible in one second or less. You need to have your truck checked as in auto mode, when wipers activated it should take 3-6 seconds for the lights to come on, maybe you don't think they do because the dash lights may stay dimmed or off but the exterior lights will be lit.
I know a thing or two about driving in the rain as I spent most of my life in Seattle.
Sounds like to me you should have bought an XL.
As explained earlier, to fully achieve what you want, have DRL activated. No they won't be at full power but the headlights will be on and then the auto feature will work as it is designed to do.
