Default Auto heater control

I have a 2003 f-150 supercrew when its cold out side all i get is air flow from the defrost ducts and after awhile when the truck warms up I am able to get the air to flow to the floor or vents , Doesnt matter what button I push it always comes out the defrost , then this morning when I tried to change the setting to the floor the floor indicator didnt light up when I push the "floor" button as if the button isnt making contact . I have remote start that came with the vehicle when I bought it used, is there a possiblilty that it goes in to a defrost mode when I remote start the truck or is this just a bad control unit? Thanks for any advice .

Try this test: this is to check the control unit

To enter the self test:
Press the OFF and FLOOR button simultaneously.
Press the AUTOMATIC button within two seconds. The test may run for as long as 30 seconds.
Record the numbers that appear and post.

Torkum - i"m having the same problem on my 2003. checked the vacuum lines and all seems well and hoping i'm not going to have to shell out the $$ to buy a new control panel. "888" is what i got. what's it mean?
