Question "Auto" Climate Control - Rear Seats?

Not sure if anyone else has noticed, or if it something up with my truck.. but when I have the climate set to "Auto", the air only comes out of the defroster. This is fine as that still heats up the front of the cab, but it also means that the heat never comes on in the rear seats (the back of the center console). The only way I can get the air to flow through the back of the center console is to put the climate on manual and choose the top vents (not floor).

I would think that "Auto" should also send heat into the rear seats. Because it doesn't, it is always noticeably colder in the back. I hate having the climate on manual as I constantly need to fumble with it.. hotter, colder, hotter, off, on, off, hotter, etc...

Is this just something off with my truck? Can anyone confirm this?

I have a 2012 FX4

Auto should send heat to the floor position (since heat rises) and cooling through the dash. Only one of the two is on the same section as the rear vents.

GATORB8,

That would make sense... so you are saying the heat is probably coming out of the floor in the rear... and if I put the temp way down (cool), it will come out of the rear of the center console?

I will check this in the morning and confirm... thanks for the quick reply. Good to know truck is acting as expected..

I do still think it would be nice to have the heat come out of that rear of console on auto, especially as it is pretty low to the ground anyway (pretty much on the floor). It would help in keeping it just as warm back there as it is in the front...
