I am looking for RANGE and two-way capability.

Viper SmartStart would be ideal but...thats alot of money for not alot of features.

When i bought my truck 5 months ago i had them put in a remote start. Its a two way ford brand. I was in a theater before xmas and started the truck as the movie was letting out. The truck was in the parking lot 300 feet away and i was inside a concrete theater. Id say that's pretty good range, plus i knew it was started cus its a two way lol.

Check out Presitge alarms, they're 'good and cheap'. I used to work for Audiovox, I'd have to say they actually make a good product, and they are assembled in the same factory as Viper so, the quality control is the same...

My 2 pence....

Thank you I appreciate your input.

My concern is, I work on an Army depot and park a half mile away from my lab (as the crow fly's). When I took my wifes car to work and would try to start it as I was walking to the lot from about 1/4 mile out, I had no idea if it was started or not.

Im going to look at Prestige now. I appreciate everyone sharing their experiences, thats the only way to get a true feeling for what works and what doesnt. Something could be advertised for "10 mile range" (fine print: in a vacuum chamber) but only really work 100'.

I've got a Compustar model installed on my truck. It's 2 way system with an advertised range of 1 mile. It tells me the inside temp of my truck too. It does a bunch of other stuff too, but I've been too lazy to read the whole manual. I live one mile from work. (Air Force base, on base housing). I can start my truck in my driveway, from work. At work, with all the buildings and hangars in the way, the range is limited to about 1/2 mile. I'm pretty happy with the remote start I have. It's never let me down.
