Default Anyone else have this problem???

I have a 2006 F-150 FX4 5.4L. A copule days ago I was driving down the highway probably around 115 km when the truck starting vibrating getting worse the longer I kept going and after about 30 seconds I decided I to slow down because it felt like a tire was going flat. When I put the brakes on it vibrated really badly. I took my foot off the brake and the vibrating seemed to stop. So I stayed on the highway and continued to my destination, when I arrived about 15 mins later I decided to look around the truck and see if I could see anything. I could not see nything visually but I did get a bit of a burning smell at the left rear wheel and the wheel was significantly hotter than the right rear. Today I had to run to the store pulled out of my driveway and headed up the road about 1 min later going up a hill it surged twice just two short ones then seemed to go back to normal. Anyone have any ideas?

What type of burning smell? Brake, rubber, grease, etc?

i dont know if this will help you but we had something similar happen to my wifes crown victoria. it vibrated and the rim on the right rear wheel was very hot. it turned out that the axel bearing was bad, at the point that we discovered it was too late and had to replace entire rear axle/

It smelled like a bit of a brake smell, I was wondering if it might have had something to do with the brake shoes for the parking brake or if a caliper could be seizing. I hope it is not an axle bearing, that is a lot more work than I want to get into.

With the burning brake smell, sounds like the e-brake hanging up (if you use them) or the caliper hanging up. Check for smooth operation of cable and clean and lube the caliper slides.

Took the wheels off the back this morning checked pads and rotors everything looked good. went to pull the rotors off both were stuck to the parking brake shoes. Finally got them off. Shoes were totally rusted and both adjusters were seized and would not move. Took everything apart going to get kits for both sides then put them back on. Hopefully it will be good to go then. Next job is to change the plugs. Yikes by the sounds of what everyone is telling me.

changing the plugs sucks, i tried to change mine but the way its set up you pretty much have to tear the whole fuel rail off.

Yeah from looking on some pics on the net it looks like the best thing to do is getting anything and everything that is in the way out of the way. As for the vibration in the back seems to be gone but I am also going to change the differential fliud and add the Ford limited slip additive. Does anyone know what are the best plugs to put in these things. I think I am just going to go with the motorcraft 1 piece plugs.
