Default another question from a newb

is there a diff. between the offroad package and the FX4 package. I have a 2001 offroad the oldest FX4 I have seen is a 2002

The only real difference is that the FX4 is slightly made more for actual off roading. The FX4 I believe is about 1-2 inches higher than the regular 4X4 off road package.

Actually depending on the options, there really is no difference. The "4x4 Off Road" has the skid plates and the same shock set up as the FX4. The difference came in when Ford added the LSD rear end standard with that package and subsequently renamed it the FX4 in 2002. Any truck that is 4x4 after that 2002 year will not say "Off Road" unless added by the owner or dealer since that package was renamed.
