Default Ambient air temp sensor

The temperature does not display on the screen in the dashboard of my 2005 F150 SuperCrew. I found where the sensor is located and disconnected it to check the resistance. I assume this device's resistance value changes with the temperature. With my sensor disconnected I measured across the contacts and it gives me about a 5Meg ohm value which seems awful high, almost an open circuit. Does anyone have an idea on what a normal reistance value would be when disconnected? I looked on line but could not find the value so here I am asking my fellow 150 owners. Thanks

Take a heat gun and put some warm air to the thermistor and see if the values change. That does see awfully high though. Put power to it and do a voltage drop, this is a more accurate way to test resistance

Hi.

Here's a table of approximate values:

Resistance measurement is just fine to check it's go/no-go functionality.

Thanks for the input, I know the part is cheap and easy to replace. I guess I am just a cheap b@$tard and wanted to make sure I was barking up the right tree. I figured the part was bad with that high of a resistance and will be replacing asap.
