Alternator Field Power Problem
I have a 2003 F-150 with 76K on it. I put a new (rebuilt) alternator and battery in recently. The alternator case cracked in three places. The other day while driving, the battery was so low all the dash gauges shut down and the truck barely made it home which was about 2 miles. The battery was dead. I charged the battery for 18 hours and all the gauges worked and the truck ran fine. I realized the alternator was not charging. After checking everything I could think of, I checked the Alternator field fuse. It was not blown but there is no voltage in the fuse slot. So the alternator field is not getting excited. Can anybody tell me where the power
to the at fuse originates? I cannot find any other fuse that can be causing the problem. I have continuity across the fusible link. I am baffled!
